Description

Petal is one of eight Huit octuplets, and in June she finally discovers her special power. When Crazy Aunt Serena kidnaps Rebecca and threatens to throw her off the Eiffel Tower, Petal must use her new ability to save the day. With the rest of the family distracted by a wedding, it's up to Petal to stop the villain.

Quick Summary

Imagine a middle-grade adventure where a kid suddenly gains a secret power just in time to foil a wacky aunt's plan to whisk a cousin away on a Parisian thrill ride that's the vibe of *Petal's Problems*. The story balances goofy humor with a dash of suspense, making it perfect for kids who like their action wrapped in silliness, and the short chapters and lively pacing keep even reluctant readers turning pages. Parents will be glad to know the scary bits (a kidnapping, a high-rise showdown) are played for laughs rather than true terror, so it stays light-hearted while still delivering a few genuine thrills. The cast especially the over-the-top Aunt Serena adds a lot of charm, and the fact that Petal's power is revealed bit by bit keeps the mystery fresh throughout. If your kid enjoyed the mix of humor and adventure in the "Bad Guys" series, they'll find a lot to love here, and the book works well as a standalone even though it's the sixth in the Logsteds' series.
