Frequently asked questions
What is an AR book level?
Accelerated Reader (AR) levels use the ATOS readability formula: a number from about 0.1 to 13+ where a 4.5 means a book is appropriate for an average reader mid-way through grade 4. Level reflects text difficulty, not maturity of content, so always skim the description too.
What do AR points mean?
Points measure how much reading work a book is worth: the student earns points by passing the AR quiz after finishing. Longer books are worth more points. Your child's teacher sets a points goal each quarter.
How do I use BookSoap?
Search by title, author, or topic; filter by maximum level to match your reader; open a book to see its exact level, points, word count, and quiz number. From there you can buy it on Amazon or check WorldCat and Open Library to borrow it from a library.
Is the AR quiz number shown?
Yes. When a book has a quiz available, its quiz number is listed on the book page. Use it to confirm the book qualifies for points at your school before buying.
Are you affiliated with Renaissance Learning?
No. Accelerated Reader, ATOS, and related marks are trademarks of Renaissance Learning, Inc. BookSoap is an independent search tool and is not endorsed by them. Book data is provided for reference only.
How does BookSoap make money?
As an Amazon Associate, BookSoap earns from qualifying purchases made through the Amazon links on book pages. It costs you nothing extra: the price is the same. Everything else on the site is free, and there are no ads or trackers.
Where does the data come from?
Book metadata (levels, points, topics) is compiled from public AR quiz data and enrichment from Google Books and Open Library. If something looks wrong, it usually means the source data was. We refresh the catalog regularly.
