Description

Luke, a video-game-loving middle-grader, is forced to join his school's robotics club despite its reputation for endless losses. Once there, he teams up with the oddball Lunchbox Jones, faces off against the ruthless Missy the Cruel, and deals with teammates who seem more interested in betrayal than building a winning robot. As the club gears up for competition, Luke discovers that the underdog can become the hero.

Quick Summary

Luke's school is the losingest in the district, and he'd rather play video games than join any team, but when he's forced into the robotics club he teams up with Lunchbox Jones, a wacky classmate who turns every disaster into a hilarious adventure. The story mixes goofy school humor with genuine moments of teamwork, and the rivalry with a bully called Missy the Cruel adds just enough tension to keep the pages turning. Kids who love slapstick jokes, robot chaos, and a hint of mystery will find plenty to enjoy, and reluctant readers will appreciate the short, snappy chapters that make it easy to read in a few sittings. Parents will like that the book celebrates problem-solving, persistence, and learning from failure without being preachy, while still delivering plenty of laughs. If you liked the chaotic school antics in Diary of a Wimpy Kid or the robot-filled fun of The Great Robot Rescue, you'll feel right at home with Lunchbox Jones.
