About this book
The book is about fifteen-year-old Huger Dillard, who lives in the Lowcountry region of South Carolina with his blind uncle Leland. During weekends at the Hunt Club, a remote tract of woods and swamp, Huger and his uncle discover a headless corpse, drawing Huger into a mystery that challenges his understanding of the world. The novel is both a coming-of-age story and a mystery set in the Southern backlands of South Carolina.
