A group of kids creates a pet-sitting club, only to find their first charge is a spirited goat named Jilly. Jilly's playful trouble-making launches the children into one wild escapade after another, from schoolyard chases to a town-wide search. As they try to keep up with the goat's antics, the friends learn about teamwork, responsibility, and the surprises that come with caring for a stubborn animal.

Quick Summary

For young readers who love a dash of mischief and plenty of animal antics, Jilly the Kid delivers exactly that. The story follows a group of kids who set up a pet-sitting club, only to find themselves saddled with a cheeky goat named Jilly who seems to turn every ordinary day into a wild chase across town. The humor is friendly and the stakes stay low, so there's no real danger just the kind of slap-stick trouble that makes kids giggle while they root for the characters to sort things out. It's a great choice for early readers who are ready for chapter books but still enjoy lots of laughs, and it works well as a read-aloud for families looking for a light-hearted story about teamwork and responsibility. If your kid liked the playful chaos in Mercy Watson or the animal-centric adventures of The Bad Guys, they'll probably have a blast with Jilly and the gang.
