With the support of her basketball teammates, friends, and a mischievous French bulldog named Lexi, she begins to understand that trying to meet an impossible ideal only leads to stress. The story, a graphic novel set in the same world as BOUNCE BACK, follows Emma as she learns to be true to herself instead of trying to please everyone. As she navigates friendships and family expectations, she discovers that authenticity matters more than perfection.
Quick Summary
Emma's got this whole "I need to be perfect" thing going on, which honestly, a lot of kids (and adults) will recognize in themselves. She learns to let it go after spending time with her basketball teammates and dogsitting this hilarious French bulldog named Lexi who keeps getting into mischief. It's a quick read that hits on some real stuff about being yourself instead of trying to make everyone else happy, but it's never preachy just a fun, light story with enough humor and sports action to keep things moving. Kids who are into basketball, anyone who's ever felt like they need to be flawless, or readers who loved books like "The Bad Guys" or other middle-grade comedies will probably gravitate toward this one. Parents will appreciate that it tackles anxiety and people-pleasing in a way that feels age-appropriate and not heavy-handed. If your kid is working through book #1 in this series, definitely grab this one next.
