Description

The story follows Ciara, a young servant girl, who embarks on a dangerous quest across the countryside when she's tasked with helping the last surviving prince of the fallen Ostero line reclaim his throne. Along the way, she must protect the naive Prince Aldrin from assassins and other threats while ancient prophecies suggest that magic is returning to their world. The Evil Empire of Avar will stop at nothing to prevent this from happening, making their journey treacherous.

Quick Summary

If your kid liked "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" or "The Last Kids on Earth," they will probably love "Enemies," the second book in the Klawde series. It's got a hilarious premise Raj is dealing with the nightmare of starting at a new school while his ridiculous alien warlord cat Klawde is stuck in exile on Earth, and things get even wilder when both of them have to face some seriously creepy characters from their pasts. The humor is snappy and the illustrations throughout keep things moving, which makes this a great choice for reluctant readers or anyone who wants something fun and fast. There's a little bit of tension and spooky stuff (nothing too scary, but enough to keep things exciting), plus some surprisingly sweet moments between Raj and his over-the-top feline companion. Parents will appreciate that it handles themes like friendship, dealing with change, and standing up for yourself without getting preachy. It's the kind of book that makes you laugh out loud and immediately want to pick up the next one.
