About this book
"Firefly Night" by Carole Gerber is a leveled reader for grades K-3 about a young Chippewa girl who follows a firefly through the forest at night. The firefly's flashing light guides her to her outdoor cradle while revealing the many creatures that live in the woods after dark. The story is loosely inspired by Longfellow's Song of Hiawatha and provides a simple introduction to nocturnal forest life and a Native American setting.
