Nothing Wrong with a Three-Legged Dog

Ten-year-old Keath is the only white student in his predominantly Black elementary school, where he is nicknamed "Whitey" and faces teasing from classmates. His best friend Lynda, who is biracial and called "Zebra" because of her mixed heritage, helps him navigate fourth grade and stand up to a bully named Toothpick. Together with Lynda's three-legged dog named Leftovers, Keath learns about friendship, handling prejudice, and the unconditional acceptance that dogs offer.
