Description

Before the start of World War II, 10-year-old Ziska Mangold, who has Jewish ancestors but has been raised as a Protestant, is sent on one of the Kindertransport trains from Nazi Germany to live with a Jewish family in London. There, she learns about Judaism and adjusts to her new life while enduring the hardships of war. Ziska attempts to keep in touch with her parents, who are trying to survive in Holland. The book follows her coming-of-age journey during this turbulent period.
