Description

While the Legion of Super-Pets safeguards the galaxy, a cunning Legion of Villain Pets launches a surprise attack on their headquarters. The heroic pets are lured away by false alarms, leaving only Proty, a shape-shifting member of the team, to defend the Kennel of Justice. Can Proty, with its ability to change form, stop the villains and protect the universe alone?

Quick Summary

If your kid loves animals with powers, this is right up their alley the Legion of Super-Pets (think Superboy's monkey Proty, Krypto the Superdog, and their friends) defend the universe, but things go sideways when villain pets crash the party. The short chapters and punchy word count make it perfect for newly independent readers who might feel intimidated by thicker chapter books, and the whole superhero-pet angle gives it that "what if my dog could fly?" appeal that kids eat up. There's genuine stakes when the headquarters gets attacked, so it has enough excitement to keep reluctant readers turning pages, but nothing too scary it's more fun action than frightening. Parents will appreciate that it sneaks in themes about teamwork and loyalty without being preachy, and the shape-shifting Proty adds a playful element that keeps things light. If your kid's already into the DC Super Pets movies or comics, they'll recognize some familiar faces, but it works equally well as a standalone intro to the concept. It's the kind of book that makes a kid feel accomplished for finishing it while secretly hoping the next one in the series is on the shelf.
