Quick Summary

If you're looking for a quick, fun read for early elementary kids, this one hits the mark. Eva and her class take a trip to Poppy's Pumpkin Farm, and everything is going great until someone realizes the giant Thank-You Pumpkin always the star of the farm has gone missing, which turns a simple field trip into a mini mystery. The AR Level of 3.2 makes it perfect for kids who are getting comfortable with chapter books but still want something manageable, and at just under 2,500 words, it's the kind of story that holds a child's attention without dragging. What I really like is how it balances the excitement of a school field trip (pumpkin patches, farm fun, the works) with a gentle puzzle that keeps kids guessing about what happened to that pumpkin, which makes it especially appealing to kids who love a little suspense without anything scary. Parents will appreciate that there's a warm class trip vibe running through the whole thing, and the mystery element gives kids something to actually think about and discuss afterward. If your child enjoyed books like "Frog and Toad" or other gentle early chapter book mysteries, this fits right alongside them short, sweet, and satisfying.
