Quick Summary

If you know a kid who's obsessed with music, especially rock and roll, this one's going to hit the right notes. Zac's favorite band seems to have gone dark side, and he's got to figure out what's really going on think detective work meets rock star vibes. The cool thing here is that it reads fast and punches above its weight for a short book, mixing mystery with enough humor to keep younger middle-graders entertained without feeling babyish. At a 4.7 reading level with just one AR point, it's perfect for kids who want the thrill of finishing a chapter book without it dragging on forever. Parents will appreciate that it's genuinely fun and lighthearted, though there are a few mildly tense moments that give it that "spooky but not scary" energy kids in this age range tend to love. This would be a great pick for reluctant readers who need something quick and punchy, or for fans of music-themed adventures. If your kid has ever dreamed of being backstage and solving a mystery at the same time, they'd probably eat this up.
