Description

B Smith, a teenage zombie, is assigned his first mission with the Angels: lead a group of human survivors out of zombie-infested London to the fortified town of New Kirkham. The journey is a relentless fight against hordes of the undead, but once they reach the safe haven, the survivors confront an even greater danger a corrupt influence seeping into New Kirkham that threatens to turn the refuge into a battleground of moral choices. As hidden demons from B's past resurface, the humans must decide whether to stay true to their principles or compromise their safety.

Quick Summary

If your kid's already hooked on the Zom-B series, this one's a solid next read B gets sent on a rescue mission that takes the action out of London and into the countryside, which shakes things up nicely. The series has always balanced genuine zombie horror with a sarcastic, punk-rock attitude, and Mission keeps that energy while exploring what happens when you bring a group of survivors into a community that might not be as safe as it seems. It's a quick read at around 32,000 words, so even reluctant readers can blast through it, and the short chapters make it feel fast-paced. Parents should know there's definitely zombie violence and some darker moral questions about trust and leadership, but nothing gratuitous it's spooky fun rather than truly disturbing. If you've read other zombie books like Monster Blood or the Rot & Ruin series and wanted something with a bit more attitude and quicker pacing, this fits the bill. The seventh book in a long series might feel tricky to jump into, but the story works as a standalone adventure if you're willing to piece together B's backstory along the way.
