Description

Magic Fire is a novel about Mark Charm, a senior in high school who is a pyromaniac. As his obsession with fire grows, he escalates his arsons beyond personal fantasies to a citywide scale, and on a dry autumn night he begins to wonder what it would be like if the whole city burned. Ultimately, his thoughts turn to the even broader idea of setting fire to the entire state of California.

Quick Summary

A pyromaniac protagonist who contemplates burning down the entire state of California creates an immediately wild premise that pulls readers in from page one. The book delivers over-the-top fire-themed chaos mixed with sharp humor and genuine heart as Mark navigates his dangerous obsession while trying to fit in at a new school. If your kid likes "Matched" by Ally Condie or other YA thrillers with unconventional protagonists and high stakes, they'll devour this.
