Description

When Megan and Lauren bring home two puppies from the Magic Mountain Rescue Centre, they form a Puppy Club with their friend Caitlin and her toy dog Daisy. A mysterious flash from their club medallions transports them to Sleuth City, where Daisy springs to life and the girls discover a headline about a missing dog. The trio becomes dog-detectives, racing to catch a dognapper and return the stolen pup.

Quick Summary

If you've got a middle-grade reader who loves dogs and puzzles, Dognapped! is a fast-paced little mystery that practically reads itself. The story follows the Mystery Pups, a group of kid detectives who get a cryptic text about a missing pooch belonging to a snobbish rich girl, and they spend the book tracking clues, interviewing quirky townsfolk, and dealing with a few tense moments that feel spooky but never too scary. The humor pops in whenever the kids bicker over who's got the best lead, and there's a warm heart underneath the madcap chase that makes you root for the pup to be found. Because it's under 10,000 words, even a reluctant reader can blaze through it in an afternoon, yet the mystery is layered enough that kids who like to think ahead will enjoy trying to solve it before the Pups do. Parents will appreciate that the book's got a wholesome vibe, no heavy content warnings, and a subtle message about loyalty and teamwork. If your kid liked the quick-fire mystery of "Nate the Great" or the dog-centric fun of "The Dog Who Saved the World," they'll likely be just as thrilled with Dognapped!
