Description

When Emily Jane hears a thud from her wardrobe one night, a dozen mischievous monkey pirates burst out, looking for yellow, bendy treasure that can be found only by traveling through space and time in old wardrobes. Determined to find her missing Uncle Bartholomew the inventor of the magical wardrobes and a man known for his enormous beard she climbs into the wardrobe alongside the pirates and joins their wild quest. Their adventure takes them from Buckingham Palace to a bearded professor's laboratory, where they use a time-telescope and a stash of bananas to solve clues and outwit obstacles. Along the way, Emily Jane must keep up with the pirates' silliness while searching for her uncle and the hidden treasure.

Quick Summary

If your kid's ever dreamed about what happens when monkeys meet pirates in outer space, this is the book for them. Twelve monkey pirates zoom around time and space hunting for treasure while also trying to solve a family mystery finding Emily Jane's missing uncle. It's got that perfect mix of silly action and genuine heart that makes kids want to keep reading, and at around 9,000 words, it's long enough to feel like a real adventure without being overwhelming for younger readers. Parents will appreciate that the story balances humor with some genuinely touching moments about family and belonging. Kids who love series like Magic Tree House or anyone obsessed with pirates, space, or just really silly animal characters will eat this up. The vocabulary is a bit more advanced than the typical picture book, so it works well for kids transitioning from picture books to chapter books who want something that still feels fun and accessible.
