The Beggar of Volubilis

In "The Beggar of Volubilis," Flavia and her friends embark on a dangerous quest across the Roman province of Mauretania, traveling from Sabratha in modern Libya to Volubilis in Morocco, on a mission for Emperor Titus to steal a valuable gemstone known as "Nero's Eye." According to the Delphic Oracle's prophecy, whoever possesses the gem will rule Rome, making it a highly sought-after prize. Along their journey through the desert on a caravan, the group encounters slave-traders, pantomime actors, and a wild animal stampede as they work to complete their mission.
