Sandmare

In "Sandmare" by Helen Cooper, a little girl named Polly creates a horse by drawing it in the sand at the beach. The Sandmare, a magical sand horse, longs to fly up to the evening sky and run with the other ponies, but she remains only a drawing. The story follows the Sandmare's desire to become real while she accompanies Polly along the sandy shore.
