Description

Kimba, a young lion born on M'goma Hill, is raised by his mother Sabba, who teaches him how to hunt and survive the dangers of the plains, including hyenas, leopards, crocodiles, and rival lions. When strange lions overthrow his father Black Mane and take control of the pride, Kimba is forced to flee for his life and face the struggle for survival alone. As he grows stronger and fiercer, Kimba eventually returns to challenge for leadership of his old pride. The book is set in the African plains and follows Kimba's journey from cub to adult lion.

Quick Summary

Kimba throws readers right into the African savanna as a young lion cub faces the ultimate test of survival when his father's reign is overthrown and he must flee into the unknown. Kids will root for Kimba as he navigates dangerous predators, harsh landscapes, and the painful journey of growing up away from everything he knows, feeling every triumph and scare alongside him. If your kid loves the emotional punch of The One and Only Ivan or the animal survival stories of Jack London, they'll devour Kimba's journey. Perfect for kids ages 9-12 in grades 4-7 who want a thrilling but not scary animal adventure.
