A Game of Life and Death

The book centers on a fed-up man who purchases a strange, antique chess set that appears to grant him supernatural powers. He discovers he can use the chess set to kill anyone who stands in the way of his success, and he begins eliminating obstacles in his life. However, his luck eventually runs out, leading to dire consequences. The high/low novel is written at a reading level of 2.7 for students in grades 9-12 with a reading age of 6.5 to 7.5.
