Description

Wuthering Heights, retold by Shirley Isherwood, presents the tragic story of Heathcliff, an orphan raised on the Yorkshire moors, and his passionate love for Catherine Earnshaw. After Catherine marries the kind but wealthy Edgar Linton, Heathcliff disappears, returns years later, wins the Wuthering Heights estate through bets with Catherine's drunken brother, ruins Catherine's marriage, and elopes with her sister-in-law Isabella. When Catherine dies, Heathcliff kidnaps her daughter Cathy to marry his own son, and only after his death do the remaining members of the two families find peace.

Quick Summary

Enter the windswept, moody world of the Yorkshire moors where a lonely house holds secrets, stormy friendships, and a twisty tale of love and revenge that feels like a ghost story turned inside out. Kids will dive into the eerie atmosphere, the shifting point of view that keeps them guessing, and the raw emotions that make the characters feel like real friends and foes. If your kid loves the mysterious, slightly creepy vibes of The Spiderwick Chronicles or the emotional rollercoaster of Bridge to Terabithia, they'll be hooked by this retelling. Perfect for middle-grade readers ages 9-12 in grades 4-7, especially those who enjoy a moody mystery with a dash of romance.
