Wuthering Heights

Wuthering Heights, retold by Shirley Isherwood, presents the tragic story of Heathcliff, an orphan raised on the Yorkshire moors, and his passionate love for Catherine Earnshaw. After Catherine marries the kind but wealthy Edgar Linton, Heathcliff disappears, returns years later, wins the Wuthering Heights estate through bets with Catherine's drunken brother, ruins Catherine's marriage, and elopes with her sister-in-law Isabella. When Catherine dies, Heathcliff kidnaps her daughter Cathy to marry his own son, and only after his death do the remaining members of the two families find peace.
