Description

Kevin, a bard's apprentice, agrees to locate the Count's niece after she is kidnapped by elves, but he soon discovers that nothing is as it seems the young woman is not actually the Count's niece and the elves are not what they appear to be. Set in a fantasy world of deception, Kevin must navigate webs of lies where everything could be a trap for the unwary. The book is coauthored by Josepha Sherman.

Quick Summary

In a world where every smile hides a dagger and every kindness conceals a trap, a young bard must use wit and music to outsmart enemies who never show their true faces. Readers will love watching the protagonist turn the tables on scheming nobles, solve riddles wrapped in lies, and discover that the sharpest weapon against deception is a clever mind and a well-timed truth. If your kid loves the puzzle-box mysteries of "The Westing Game" or the clever plotting of "The Mysterious Benedict Society," they'll be hooked from the first page. This book is perfect for ages 14 and up, or grades 9 through 12.
