The Smashing Saxons

The Smashing Saxons, written by Terry Deary, is a nonfiction book in the Horrible Histories series that presents the history of the Anglo-Saxon era in a factual, concise format. It covers the Saxons' daily customs, social structure, and major events such as Viking raids and the Norman conquest, and it explains why people received cow pats as Christmas presents and why wearing a pig on one's head was considered lucky. The text is structured in short chapters designed for middle-grade readers (grades 4-8) and includes factual details about historical figures, weapons, and cultural traditions.
