It is the 30th century, and most of humanity has chosen immortality by joining digital polises to become conscious software, while others have opted for robot bodies or remain as biological "fleshers." When an astrophysical disaster threatens to destroy Earth, Yatima, an orphan created from a Konishi polis mind seed, must lead a group of refugees in search of knowledge that could save the inhabitants from extinction.
