Description
In this second book of the series, Nellie McClung, now a young schoolteacher in the late 1800s, works to overcome her mother's criticism and the prejudices of those around her. As she develops her ideas about women's rights and the role of the family, she attempts to help Sarah, one of her young students. The book explores how Nellie's experiences as a teacher shaped her future role as a suffragette, reformer, and author who became Canada's most famous pioneer for women's rights.
