Description

When a young white fox named Dilah returns to his den, he discovers his mother mortally wounded. Before she dies, she tells him of a legendary treasure that can turn animals into humans, whose location is hinted at by a moonstone hidden beneath their home. Determined to fulfill her last wish, Dilah sets out on a perilous quest, facing danger and violence as he follows the clues. The story blends folklore with adventure, immersing readers in a world where the line between animal and human is both magical and perilous.

Quick Summary

Dilah's journey hits hard right from the start when his mother is injured and dies, which is definitely sad but sets up a really compelling adventure. Kids who love animal stories mixed with mystery and a quest will get hooked following the moonstone clues and searching for this powerful treasure. There's some scary stuff and danger along the way, so younger readers might want a parent nearby, but older middle graders will handle it fine. The story has that classic adventure structure with obstacles and growth that makes you really root for Dilah. Fans of animal adventures like Redwall or Amulet will probably find a lot to love here.
