Description
Why are the king’s ravens changing? Is it a message or a warning? The ravenkeeper’s young daughter Alys must make the journey to warn the king before it’s too late.
Quick Summary
If you have a kid who loves fantasy and strong characters, Alys is a fantastic role model she's brave and smart without being preachy about it. The premise is simple but really draws you in: something's wrong with the king's ravens, and this young girl has to make an important journey to warn him before it's too late. I found myself wanting to know what would happen next, which is saying something for such a short book. At around 2,800 words, it's perfect for kids who want a complete adventure story but might feel overwhelmed by longer chapter books. There's a nice sense of mystery and mild urgency without anything too scary or intense, so it works well for younger elementary kids who like a little suspense. If your child enjoyed other short fantasy adventures like "The Dragon's Apprentice" or stories about ordinary kids doing extraordinary things, they'll probably love this one too.
