Quick Summary
If you're looking for a quick, silly read for early readers, this one delivers exactly what it promises. Viv and Jax decide to throw together their own "mix" with whatever sounds good at the moment jam, melon, and who knows what else and the fun part is wondering whether Mum is brave enough (or regretful enough) to actually drink it. Kids who like gross-out humor or kitchen chaos will get a kick out of guessing what happens next, and the short sentences make it perfect for brand-new readers who want to feel like they accomplished something on their own. There's just enough tension in that final sip to keep little ones turning pages, but not so much that it freaks anyone out. Parents will appreciate that it's got actual story momentum despite being under 130 words, and it's a great step up from pure picture books for kindergarteners and first graders. If your kid likes the idea of kids causing culinary mayhem, they'd probably also enjoy "The Bear's Lunch" or similar wacky food adventures.
