The Austen Girls

"The Austen Girls" follows Anna Austen and her cousin Fanny, two young women in Regency-era England who face pressure from their families to secure wealthy husbands. Their unmarried Aunt Jane, who appears to be based on the author Jane Austen, serves as an example of a woman who is perfectly happy without a husband. The novel explores the limited options available to women of their time and whether finding love and personal choice are realistic possibilities.
