In Project Bright Spark, Briony is convinced that something is off with her new teacher, so she and her friend Sergio start digging for answers. After Miss Cartwright is unexpectedly sacked and the replacement begins acting strangely, the two friends uncover a secret conspiracy that no one expected. As they follow the clues, Briony and Sergio must solve the mystery before it's too late.

Quick Summary

Briony and her friend Sergio are convinced something is seriously wrong with their new teacher and honestly, their hunch turns out to be hilariously, creepily right. This is one of those stories that makes you want to keep turning pages not because anything truly scary happens, but because you genuinely root for these two kids to figure out what's going on before things get worse. Kids in the lower grades who love a mix of mystery and humor will eat this up, especially if they enjoyed something like "The Wiggle, Waggle, Walk" or other school-based adventures with a twist. The writing is straightforward enough for newly confident readers but the plot has enough personality that adults reading alongside won't feel bored. There's a sweet friendship at the center of the story, plus a teacher situation that gives kids something to puzzle over and giggle about in equal measure. It's quick too at just over 5,000 words, it won't overwhelm a reluctant reader, but it still feels like a complete little adventure rather than a throwaway activity book. If your kid wants a story where kids outsmart a bizarre adult and save the day in under an hour, this one's a solid pick.
