Quick Summary

If you've got a kid who thinks history class is boring, this book might change their mind real quick. Jack and Kaitlin are just a regular brother and sister visiting their town museum when a lightning strike zaps a T. rex skeleton back to life and then a whole bunch more dinos and suddenly they're right in the middle of an honest-to-goodness dinosaur escape. It's equal parts hilarious and genuinely tense, which makes it perfect for kids who want to be scared but not too scared, and the short chapters and fast pace mean even reluctant readers can blow through it in an afternoon. The siblings have a really fun dynamic they bicker like real brothers and sisters but actually pull together when things get chaotic and there's just enough educational stuff about dinosaurs woven in that it doesn't feel like homework. Alek Sotirovski's illustrations add a lot of energy and give kids something to latch onto between the words. If your kid liked "The Bad Guys" by Aaron Blabey or any of the "Ricky Ricotta" books, they'll probably devour this one just as fast. It's the kind of quick, goofy adventure that makes kids actually want to pick up another book when they're done.
