Androcles and the Lion

In this retelling of an ancient fable, a runaway slave named Androcles finds a wounded lion in the forest. He tends to the animal's injury, and the two become friends, but later both are captured and taken to Rome. In the arena, the lion recognizes Androcles and spares his life, showing how compassion can triumph over cruelty.
