Description

When his father dies under mysterious circumstances, young Jake is left with more than just grief he inherits an uncanny ability to predict the weather. As he enters his teenage years, he discovers his father's secret research, and realizes the military is desperate to use both his talent and his work for their own ends. Now Jake must protect his father's legacy while staying ahead of those who would exploit his powers for evil.

Quick Summary

Imagine discovering you can predict hurricanes before anyone else, just like your dad did, and then realizing that the same people who killed him are now hunting you for that ability. Jake's story mixes the thrill of a secret government chase with the heartache of losing a parent, and the way the weather feels almost alive through pressure systems, wind patterns, and sudden storms makes it stand out from typical middle-grade mysteries. Kids who love science, especially weather, will eat up the details of how forecasts work, while the fast-paced cat-and-mouse scenes keep even reluctant readers turning pages. There are a few tense moments when the military closes in, and a touching subplot about Jake's memories of his father that adds depth without being too heavy. If you liked the blend of real-world science and suspense in The Parker Inheritance, you'll feel right at home here, but with more action and a teen protagonist facing a darker conspiracy.
