Quick Summary

Kids who love silly animal protagonists and quick, laugh-out-loud adventures will find a lot to like in Hairy Mole's quest for treasure and jam. The story follows Hairy Mole and his crew as they set sail for Italy, battling stormy seas, a mischievous sea creature, and a ridiculous obsession with jam, before a clever flock of seagulls swoops in to rescue them from a tight spot. At an AR level of 6.0 and a word count around 8,000, it's a short but satisfying adventure that won't overwhelm reluctant readers, while the goofy humor and light danger keep even younger middle-graders entertained.
