The Gorgon's Gaze

In Mallins Wood, the last surviving gorgon faces destruction as development creeps closer, and those who serve these creatures called Companions are determined to protect them. Connie, the most powerful Companion alive, is pulled away from her training with the Society when her best friend Col disappears while investigating the threat to the wood. To rescue him, she'll have to confront her deadly enemy Kullervo, who possesses her in a terrifying struggle for control. The second book in the Companions Quartet blends fantasy adventure with supernatural conflict as Connie fights to save both her friend and herself.
