Mel Slater is racing against the clock to get his newly purchased bar spick-and-span for its grand opening, only to find a sly rat that repeatedly escapes every trap. His neighbor Tom Burton offers a hand, but the pair soon realize the rodent's uncanny disappearances and a hint about the bar's former owner point to a hidden mystery beneath the surface. As they scrub the floors and chase the elusive critter, Mel and Tom must untangle the bar's secret before the doors finally open.
