Description

When Desmond and Andres join their class for a field trip to the zoo, they expect a day of animal sightings and bus rides. Instead, they discover the zoo's newest problem: a zookeeper who's turned into a zombie, and the usual safe enclosures no longer feel safe. The two friends must use their ghost-patrol tricks to stop the undead keeper and protect their classmates. This fourth installment in the Desmond Cole Ghost Patrol series is written for newly independent readers, with short chapters, easy language, and illustrations on almost every page.

Quick Summary

If your kid loves goofy, fast-paced adventure stories, this is right up their alley. Desmond and Andres are back for another totally chaotic school field trip, and this time they're at the zoo when things go hilariously wrong with a zombie situation it's spooky in a fun way, not nightmare fuel, so even younger elementary kids can handle it. The humor is big and silly, which makes it a great choice for reluctant readers who want something quick and entertaining rather than something that feels like work. There's enough animal chaos mixed in with the zombie mess to keep animal lovers laughing, and the short chapters mean kids can actually finish it without getting lost or bored. Parents will appreciate that it's got that just-scary-enough vibe without anything too intense, and kids will love that the characters are always getting into ridiculous situations. Fans of the "Desmond Cole" series or books like "The Notebook of Doom" will probably gravitate toward this one, and it's a nice gateway into chapter books for kids transitioning from picture books.
