Description

When a massive fossil vanishes from the New England Children's Museum just before a big exhibit, Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose step in to solve the mystery. The trio follows clues, questions museum staff, and examines artifacts in a bid to locate the missing specimen and uncover who took it. Their investigation reveals a surprising motive while introducing them to facts about prehistoric life. In the end, the friends must act quickly to recover the fossil before the museum's opening.

Quick Summary

Head to the New England Children's Museum with Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose, and you'll find a mystery that's equal parts fun, fossils, and a few spooky surprises. The story's pacing is perfect for early readers short chapters, plenty of dialogue, and clues that kids can spot alongside the characters, making it a great choice for kids who love to feel like detectives. The humor is lighthearted, the friendships feel real, and there's just enough excitement (a missing fossil, a shadowy hallway) to keep the pages turning without being too scary for kindergartners and first-graders. If your child is into dinosaurs or loves the satisfaction of solving puzzles, they'll be hooked, and the book even throws in a few facts about real fossils to spark curiosity. It's a nice step up from picture-book mysteries, similar in tone to the "Nate the Great" series but set in a lively museum that feels alive with artifacts and adventure.
