Quick Summary
If you're into superhero stories, this is a fun one it's got Stan Lee's fingerprints all over it, which means plenty of action mixed with wit and heart. Six kids suddenly gain magical powers and have to deal with a surprise attack from a group called the Vanguard, and the tension of that confrontation keeps pages turning without feeling overwhelming for younger readers. The AR Level of 3.3 and short word count make it a solid choice for middle graders who want something exciting but not intimidating, and kids who love the idea of teamwork under pressure will get a lot out of it. Parents will probably appreciate that it's fast-paced and doesn't get bogged down in heavy backstory, so even reluctant readers can follow along and feel accomplished finishing it. Think of it as a quick, action-packed chapter book with just enough depth to make you care about these teens before the next battle hits.
