Description

The Bear Scouts are visiting Grizzly Gran and Gramps when Gran's magic crystal ball tumbles off the table and starts giving wildly inaccurate predictions. The sudden chaos catches the eye of a shady swindler named Ralph Ripoff, who hopes to use the crystal for his own gain, and the Scouts must track down the missing ball before he does. Together they search the house, decode clues, and outwit the con artist to return the crystal to Gran.

Quick Summary

When Grizzly Gran's famous crystal ball goes missing, the Bear Scouts step in to solve the case, and young readers will have a great time trying to piece together the clues alongside them. This one strikes a nice balance it has just enough mystery and mild suspense to keep kids turning pages without anything too scary for the early elementary crowd. The mystery unfolds at a pace that works well for early chapter book readers who want something more substantial than picture books but aren't quite ready for longer novels. Families who already love the Berenstain Bears will enjoy seeing these familiar characters in a detective adventure, and it makes a great companion to other early chapter book mysteries. The whole thing wraps up with a message about helping others that feels natural rather than preachy.
