Description

Ellie buys what she thinks is a snake egg from the mysterious science teacher Ms. Fleek and hides it in a cage in her closet. When the egg finally hatches, the creature that emerges has hands, feet, and wings far from the ordinary reptile she expected. As the strange animal grows, Ellie must keep it secret while trying to figure out what it is and why Ms. Fleek was so eager to sell it. Her attempts to care for the impossible pet and uncover its origins drive the story.

Quick Summary

Ellie's impulse buy from a suspicious science teacher turns into a living, breathing secret when a creature with hands, feet, and wings pops out of what she thought was a snake egg, and she has to hide it from her parents while figuring out how to keep it alive. The story blends goofy school humor with a dash of spooky mystery, making it perfect for kids who like their adventures fast-paced and a little creepy. Reluctant readers will appreciate the short chapters and the laugh-out-loud moments that keep the pages turning, while kids who love secret hideouts and weird science experiments will find plenty to enjoy. There's a light-hearted lesson about honesty and the consequences of keeping secrets, but it never feels preachy just a fun reminder wrapped in absurdity. If you liked the mix of humor and mild scares in "The Bad Guys" or the quick, quirky mysteries in "Goosebumps," you'll probably love this one too.
