Buyer Beware

Ellie buys what she thinks is a snake egg from the mysterious science teacher Ms. Fleek and hides it in a cage in her closet. When the egg finally hatches, the creature that emerges has hands, feet, and wings far from the ordinary reptile she expected. As the strange animal grows, Ellie must keep it secret while trying to figure out what it is and why Ms. Fleek was so eager to sell it. Her attempts to care for the impossible pet and uncover its origins drive the story.
