Shut Out

Shut Out, by Kody Keplinger, is a young-adult novel that reinterprets the Greek comedy Lysistrata in a modern high-school setting. At Hamilton High, the fierce rivalry between the football and soccer teams escalates into violence, prompting Lissa and the other players' girlfriends to initiate a hookup strike, withholding intimacy until the boys end the conflict. Their success hinges on whether the girls can outlast the boys' desire for sexual activity. The book includes pervasive profanity and sexual references.
