Tikvah Means Hope

Patricia Polacco's picture book describes a family in the Oakland hills whose neighborhood is engulfed by a fire during a Jewish fall holiday. After the fire, the family and their neighbors gather in grief, and their cat Tikvah, whose name means hope in Hebrew, disappears. When the cat unexpectedly returns, the community is reminded of hope.
