Never Swim in Applesauce

Never Swim in Applesauce follows first-grader Roscoe Riley as he joins his class on a field trip to an apple orchard, bringing his sister's fortune-telling ball. The story focuses on Roscoe's attempts to obey his teacher Ms. Diz's strict behavior expectations while experiencing the excitement of apple picking and watching how applesauce is made. His accidental rule breaking leads to humorous mix-ups, illustrating typical challenges faced by young students on a class outing. The book is the fourth title in Katherine Applegate's chapter-book series about the mischievous first-grader and is aimed at early readers with a reading level around third grade.
