Description

In Victorian London, the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes teams up with a group of street-smart orphans, the Baker Street Irregulars, to investigate a string of murders among a family of circus tightrope walkers. When a death at the circus points to a larger, more dangerous conspiracy, Holmes must rely on his deductive skills and the boys' inside knowledge of the city's underworld. The case pits the brilliant sleuth against a cunning adversary whose scheme reaches far beyond the Big Top.

Quick Summary

If you've got a kid who loves a good mystery but wants something with more personality than a standard whodunit, this one's for you. The Baker Street Irregulars the scrappy street kids who've helped Sherlock Holmes in the original stories take center stage here, solving a genuinely creepy puzzle about circus tightrope walkers who keep falling to their deaths, and kids will love seeing underdog characters outsmart the famous detective. There's real tension in some scenes, so it's not all laughs, but the humor balances out the spooky parts enough that it's perfect for readers who want excitement without nightmares. It's got that Encyclopedia Brown energy where kids get to piece together clues alongside the characters, but with a flashier setting and higher stakes. This would be a great pick for reluctant readers who think they don't like mysteries, or for Holmes fans who want to experience the world from a kid's point of view.
