Description

One night ten little chimps slip out of bed and head to the local watering hole, where the jungle is already hopping with jitterbugging lions, hokey-pokey hippos, and macarena-dancing meerkats. Each chimp finds a partner and the dance count climbs higher as the music grows louder, turning the night into a lively countdown of fun. When Mama Chimp hears the commotion, she calls the chimps home, and they cha-cha all the way back before the night ends.

Quick Summary

Kids who love to move will get a kick out of watching ten little chimps lead a wild dance party at Mambo Jamba's, where hippos try the hokey-pokey, meerkats tackle the macarena, and the chimps cha-cha until Mama Chimp calls time for bed. The story pairs simple, bouncy rhymes with bright illustrations that make each animal's goofy moves easy to picture, and the counting element (one chimp, two chimps ) gives little ones a chance to practice numbers while they groove along. At just 389 words and an AR level of 2.4, it's perfect for emerging readers who want a quick, satisfying story without getting bogged down. It's the kind of book that works equally well as a read-aloud before a bedtime wind-down or as a lively sing-along during storytime, especially for children who need a little extra energy to stay interested. Parents will appreciate that the chaotic dance-off ends on a gentle, soothing note, making the transition to sleep feel natural rather than forced. If your child enjoys books that mix movement and learning, this one is a great next pick after reading "Freight Train" or "Pete the Cat" for its rhythmic fun.
