The Highest Tide

Thirteen-year-old Miles O'Malley lives in Puget Sound and spends his summer exploring the tidal flats in his kayak. One moonlit night he discovers a beached giant squid, becoming the first person ever to see one alive, which brings him sudden attention from the media and his community. As he continues finding rare ocean creatures throughout that summer, some people in his town begin to question whether he is prophetic. The novel follows Miles as he navigates this unexpected fame while dealing with typical adolescent concerns and his deep fascination with the sea.
