Quick Summary
Don Freeman's beloved Corduroy stories have been warming hearts for decades, and this one hits especially hard because it captures that very real kid feeling of wanting just one more thing to make something already wonderful even better. When Lisa's green bear notices other teddy bears have pockets and he doesn't, he sets off on a small nighttime adventure through a laundromat to find one and what he discovers instead is even sweeter than a pocket could ever be. It's perfect for kids ages 4 through 7, especially anyone who's ever loved a stuffed animal enough to wonder what it thinks and feels, and the simple vocabulary makes it a great early reader choice without feeling like "reading practice." Parents will appreciate that it gently teaches kids about contentment and belonging without ever getting preachy or heavy-handed. If your little one adores Corduroy, they'd probably also love "Corduroy" itself, the original story about how Corduroy and Lisa found each other in the first place.
