Description

When an accident leaves her elderly neighbor unable to care for her seven cats, nine-year-old Sparrow Robinson steps in to help. She balances the daily feeding, cleaning, and snuggles with the demands of a new school and fourth-grade friendships. Just as things settle, the cats have kittens, and Sparrow must find new homes for the growing feline family while honoring her promise. The story follows her determined effort to manage her responsibilities, navigate unexpected challenges, and learn what it truly means to look after others.

Quick Summary

Meet Sparrow, a relentlessly energetic fourth grader who decides to take on the surprisingly tough job of finding new homes for her neighbor's seven cats. The story is packed with laugh-out-loud moments as Sparrow hatches goofy schemes, deals with runaway felines, and learns a lot about responsibility without ever feeling preachy. Kids who love animals, enjoy a good giggle, or just want a fast, feel-good story will zip through the pages in no time, and even reluctant readers will find the short chapters and snappy dialogue easy to finish. There's a little bit of tension when the cats get into mischief, but nothing too scary perfect for middle-grade readers who want adventure without heavy drama. Parents will also appreciate the gentle lessons about empathy, planning, and dealing with failure, all wrapped in a light-hearted package that feels like a modern take on classic animal-rescue tales. If your kid liked the humor and heart of "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" or "The Bad Guys," they'll probably fall for Sparrow's cat-rescue mission just as easily.
